News for Sommersemester 2012
Details and (more or less) up to date information on the class homepage: http://ne.nst.ei.tum.de.
This class is for advanced Diploma or Masters students in technical areas, who want to learn how principles of neural information processing can offer surprising solutions for technical problems. In short: Why are brains so good at several things that computers are really bad at (and also the other way around!).
Please realize that we will not find a final answer to that question in this class, as it is still an active research question! But we will investigate various exemplary algorithmic and computing principles to explore computation in neural systems.
The lecture will be held in six blocks of 3h (=6x2x1,5h) each. The exercise ("Übung", 1h/week) will much rather be a practical, where students explore learned principles in computer programs and/or real robots under supervision. Depending on class size we will offer one exercise slot right after class and/or multiple additional slots throughout the week.
Remember there are mandatory class projects!
