STUDIENARBEIT / BACHELOR THESIS
Object detection and tracking in (Stereo-)Microscope images

Problem description:
The aim of this this is the implementation of basic object detection and tracking capabilities for an existing micro-manipulation system using OpenCV.
The system is equipped with a human-controlled microgripper for performing pick-and-place tasks with microspheres (10-100 µm in diameter). For visualization a ZEISS Stereo Microscope with two CCD cameras is used.
During the manipulation tasks the position of the gripper and the microobject should be tracked. The data could later be used for precision evaluation or autonomous control.
The experimental setup is located at Helmholtz Zentrum München, Neuherberg.
Tasks:
- Familiarization with OpenCV
- Implementation of basic vision features
- Development of appropriate data visualisation and storage capabilities
- Evaluation and documentation
Requirements:
Basic knowledge in C/C++, experience in OpenCV is preferable but not necessary.
